I haven't really been paying too much attention to this blog. I'm way more of a football person, and being a Cubs fan there isn't much to celebrate. So today, let's just kind of get into what's been happening.
First of all, Congrats to the Louisville Men's and UConn Women's basketball teams on winning the NCAA championship. Louisville beat Michigan, who started off on a hot start, by a score of 82-76. The UConn women's team easily crushed the Louisville women's team, winning 93-60. UConn wins their 8 title.
Still in Basketball, the Miami Heat clinched home-court throughout the playoffs last night with a win over Washington. A win that came without LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh.
The New York Knicks clinched the Atlantic division for the first time since 93-94. And Indiana has clinched the Central Conference. The LA Clippers clinched the Pacific division with a win over the LA Lakers. And San Antonio has clinched the Southwest conference. The Southeast conference still remains up for grabs. But seeing how it is, it would appear this is the first round of the playoffs with only a few games left in the regular season.
#1 Miami Heat vs. #8 Milwaukee Bucks #1 Oklahoma City Thunder vs. #8 LA Lakers
#2 New York Knicks vs #7 Boston Celtics #2 San Antonio Spurs vs. #7 Houston Rockets
#3 Indiana Pacers vs #6 Atlanta Hawks #3 Denver Nuggets vs. #6 Golden State Warriors
#4 Brooklyn Nets vs #5 Chicago Bulls #4 LA Clippers vs #5 Memphis Grizzlies
My guess for each of those matches. Heat, Knicks, Pacers, and Nets all advance. I'll take Chicago over Brooklyn should Derrick Rose decide to man-up and start playing again. In the West, the Thunder, Spurs, Nuggets, and Clippers. Not much of an upset in the first rounds. I could really see this years Finals coming down to New York and Oklahoma City. Unless New York can't stay healthy, then I'll go with Miami. Even though I'm a Miami Heat fan, I don't care much for repeat Champions.
There's really not much going on in baseball since it just started. I could talk on and on about the Cubs, but this is a sports blog, not a Cubs blog. So really not much has happened. Yu Darvish came an out away from a perfect game, and Jeff Samardzija had 13 K's in his last outing, but slipped late and ended up losing the game. Justin Upton has proved to be a great addition to the Braves, and him and his brother both homered back-to-back in a 5-6 win over the Cubs.
The NHL Playoffs are nearing as well, but still have a bit of time to really shake things up. So I'll come back to that another time.
Lastly, the Master's tournament has started this morning. Could be interesting down in Augusta.
